i've been noticing recently that the A/C in a lot of Davis Square restaurants is kinda iffy -- are there any places near the square that can reliably provide that nice bracing 72 degrees that's so lovely when you've been walking around in the oven-like heat?

I usually find the upstairs bar area at Redbones to be delightfully chilly. The beer probably helps too.

Mike's was adequately air-conditioned when I visited there at noon today. (The windows were all closed.)

The 99 near Assembly Sq was FREEZING on Monday. I had to wear a sweatshirt I had in the car.

Not a restaurant - but if you just need a quick respite, the post office in Davis always has their A/C cranked up to what seems like near-refrigeration temperature.

And in the "Also not what you're looking for" department, I'll share that Inman Oasis has one of their tubs cooled down as a Cool Tub. You can go use the Cool tub or a Hot tub, or swap between them, all at the price of a community-tub soak.

As for what you *actually* asked about, Yoshi's is usually really cold, though I haven't checked in the last couple of days.

Thank you for sharing this, as it is fantastic information (and easier than making an ice bath at home...most likely.

I haven't tried it, but it did sound really nice. They don't do it every day, but when they do they post it on Facebook and presumably on their website, too.

Little Q HotPot was pretty chill yesterday. And they have a "summer cooler" broth (it's still hot broth, but it has herbs that cause cooling according to ancient medicinal doctrine, etc. etc.)

Where's this? (Google seems to think it's in Quincy, which can't be correct if you're posting it here.)

They moved from Quincy -- they're now at 196 Mass Ave in E. Arlington, about a half-block from the Capitol Theater:

Also, IMHO, they're DELICIOUS.

Flatbread pizza in the former Sacco's Bowl Haven is open and chilly. Go for the pizza and beer, stay for the bowling and AC.

Almost too chilly, I feel. Which is probably nice for the bowling, but it's not so nice for the sitting and eating part of the evening. :)

I was there Monday night and agree with you.

noticeably under 80 and lower humidity is lovely to me after time in the oven-like heat. I think I'd rather frequent restaurants that run their air conditioning at 75 or 76 than 72. Then I can have a pleasant meal *and* no shock upon exiting, either.

yeah. I entirely agree. Too cold when it's this hot out is almost worse than no AC at all.
