I never have any problems with T-Mobile in urban areas, or areas immediately surrounding them. Once you're in a place with more than a few trees, however, I've found it to be a little spotty.
I've got the Nexus One, and I've had T-mobile for about 3 years now on a variety of phones, and haven't had a problem yet. Be aware that sometimes there's a disconnect between the Nexus One ordering process and what T-mobile knows, since the phone is exclusively through Google and T-mobile doesn't necessarily know anything. This was, of course, when the phone first came out and I pounced on it, so things may be caught up by now. Other than that, I'm in love. I get great service, and even the customer service is great (as opposed to, my AT&T experience, when they screwed me over).
I have exactly the same setup you're looking at, and I'm very satisfied with it. I don't think I've caught the phone with less than three bars of high-speed service all throughout the Davis Square area.
I've had tmobile and a G1 for about two years now, and the service (both coverage and customer) has been excellent. Much, much better than Verizon, and cheaper too. I'm currently paying $60 a month for unlimited text and data, and 500 minutes of talk time.
Hi. I know I'm a bit late but I have T-Mobile and an unlocked/hacked N1 (and a hacked G1). As others have said, coverage is a hair spotty in some buildings but fine overall. I've never had problems in Davis.
Good luck! The N1 isn't perfect but it's a fine phone that I like a lot.
thanks for the info. I ordered one and expect it to arrive today.
Any advice for a new N1 owner? I am moving form my very old, very worn 2g iphone to android. The iphone has served me well but I just can't handle the limitations and arrogance coming from Apple/ATT.
