As I am getting down to the two week mark and am getting incredibly nervous about moving, I'm here asking for a little help. I need a room September 1st. I am a good roommate, but I have a (good and well mannered) dog and that seems to be the big issue. I've been working Craigslist over for the last few months, but I rarely get replies.
Here's a run down of all of my other requirements, but cut so as not to bog down the community with another renter's post.
- The dog is 60 lbs, rescue mutt, well mannered if a bit shy. Loves people, will play with other animals, but has cohabited with a free-running ferret and a cat with no actual damage to the apartment or the animals. He generally does not bark, except when someone stops by unexpectedly and it is rarely more than 4-5 barks. My previous roommates love my dog. You may too!
- I can't pay more than $700. I'm looking for a job that will have that comfort, but for now, I'm trying to be reasonable. I'd like to keep it under $600 if possible. I'm responsible with my bills and a good tenant. I've even successfully decorated a room without using nails or pins, if that's what the landlord requires.
- T accessible would be nicer than anything. I'd like to be about a mile from the station, but can take buses. I really am not a fan of a multi-bus commute though. I have a car that is already registered in Somerville, so I can play the street parking game with little to no issue.
- I'm technically allergic to all cat breeds, but am mostly comfortable with short haired. This varies by cat.
- I have a desk, a queen sized bed and a dresser and need a room to fit all of them inside. Technically, I have a futon, but I am less attached to that.
Fun stuff: I'm a fan of books and dvds, video games and board games. I'm social, but I spend a good deal of time alone drawing or glued to my computer. I love cooking but am bad at cooking for one - so I'll cook for you, if you don't mind veggies. I drink, but not all that often. I've smoked, but never enough to cultivate a habit. I'm 30, but generally get along with a wide range of ages.
Thanks for reading. I want to live in the Davis area, but will take referrals elsewhere because I'm running out of time.
