lots of sirens?

I'm in Winter Hill, currently walking towards Broadway (ain't technology grand), and there is a whole mess of sirens going off somewhere to the north or east. Couldn't be in Davis proper, but is probably audible there, too. LOTS of sirens. Anyone know what's going on?
