Hello Neighbors!

My name is Katie and I write a daily column called 'About Town'  for Somerville.Patch.com. I am reaching out to all of you, to ask if you would share with me your story ideas, tips, events etc. 'About Town' in Somerville. 

I am looking to make my column unique. I  would love to hear directly from others in Somerville, whom I don't have the pleasure to know yet, about who and what  in the community you all think should be covered in the column. I have some guidelines steering me, but I also want to tell the un-told stories of those in our community, whether it be a neighbor, a local barista, a talented artist, or even the crossing guard that helps your kids get to school safely each day.

Not quite Somerville, but I want to hear the stories of the panhandlers at Alewife during rush hour. I both spend a lot of time near them and know next to nothing about them; not the best circumstance for conversation...

Does Somerville Patch have a policy like the other Somerville papers where every news story needs a direct Somerville connection?

Yes, Somerville Patch does exclusively cover Somerville.
But there are other local Patch sites in the area as well.

I'd like to see an article comparing crime rates over the years in Somerville. How has crime changed in the past 20 years? What neighborhoods are safest? How do current crime rates compare to neighboring cities? How has gang activity changed over the years? Etc...
