I've got a behemoth of an air conditioner, which still works, though it's missing a few buttons (you need to lift up the cover of the control panel stick something in to toggle it on or off). Thing is, it's a goddam monster, and I don't need such a large machine. I'm sick of having to beg my male friends to move it for me. So I'm either tossing it, or giving it away. If you want it, speak up (you will be responsible for moving it, naturally. Also, what's the deal in Somerville for throwing out an A/C. Can I just leave it on the curb? Any info would be appreciated.

Looks like you have to buy a $25 sticker to dispose of the A/C as trash.

If you don't find a taker here, I bet you would on freecycle, or the craigslist free stuff section.

If you can cope with storing it over the winter, and you don't have luck getting rid of it now, trying again on the first hot day of the summer will probably make it go away more quickly.

There is a dude on Craigslist who buys air conditioners, fixes the up and sell them each spring.

There are also craigslist guys that will take it for scrap metal.
