New bus service to NYC
Oct. 23rd, 2010 11:33 pmI recently heard about a new bus line to NYC. World Wide Bus will run from Alewife and Riverside to the Penn Station area.
It starts October 27th, and the intro fare is $10. The regular fare will be $15 weekdays, $20 weekends.
This will be very convenient for people in Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline, and Newton.

Date: 2010-11-30 04:16 am (UTC)There are two power outlets for each set of two seats (kind of hard to find at first, as they're at about ankle level along the wall), so my seatmate and I didn't have to negotiate about who got to plug in when (something that can be a problem on some other buses/some Amtrak types). The wifi was easy though at some point I think it got overloaded from a few people watching streaming video and got slow, so I switched to my phone's 3G.
I was a little hesitant about the bus's Manhattan pick-up being at a street corner not a normal station, but it was really easy to find (about 5 min walk from Penn Station, right by the Post Office) and IMHO nicer, simpler, and less stressful than dealing with the crowds at Port Authority.
Overall, very positive experience, and tons better than the inflated prices I'd have paid on Amtrak on a holiday weekend.
