Sure, that'd be the ideal solution. Sadly, we do not live in an ideal world.
I'm approaching it purely from a practical standpoint: it seems like there are two issues here. One, there's a package the OP needs to get and two, there needs to be a way for the OP to not have this happen again. I'm not sure there's one elegant solution to both.
