We have a number of small projects for which we could use some help.  Hoping to find one person who can do it all, ideally.

*Rehang a lazy Susan door
*snake out a couple drains
*figure out why our under-cabinet fluorescent lights keep flickering or don't work, even when we replace the bulbs
*figure out why our outdoor electrical outlet suddenly doesn't work anymore
*clean out a very stinky garbage disposal
*give us an estimate for repainting the interior of our condo and tiling the kitchen backsplash

Thanks for any tips.

I can't help you with the big question, but the fluorescent fixture you're having problems with probably just needs a new starter. The starter is usually a cylinder that unscrews (turn 1/4 to 1/2 way and pull out.) You can get a new one with the same label at a hardware store, screw it in, and you should be good to go.

This is also more frequently referred to as a 'ballast.'

or, actually - a a lamp starter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorescent_lamp#Starting), which function with the ballast.

I recommend Joe Coviello. He has done a lot of work on my house from installing a new washer to fixing pocket doors. I'm not sure about electrical but he could always take a look. His number is 617.504.5888, tell him Minda sent you :)

Try ice cubes, cut up lemons or limes followed by baking soda.

definitely cut the lemons up a bit, we sent some half lemons down ours, and they made it through the disposal, but then got stuck in the pipes and we had to snake the pipes to get the drain to drain right again. smelled nice, though. :)
