Does anyone know if the new dog park on New Washington Street has lights? I'm hoping to visit it tonight but don't want to bother making the trek over there if it's going to be too dark to play.
The concept of a park being "closed" during certain hours has never made much sense to me, especially since most parks aren't surrounded by fences and gates.
For the record, I agree with you. I only noted this because a) lighting of parks at all hours is not something I see as a good thing - I don't feel any safter under bright lights, I just can't see the stars and b) the city has apparently taken to padlocking the dog park at Nunziato Field during off hours (presumably in response to complaints about barking dogs late at night or early in the morning?)
(I hope that doesn't happen at New Washington St, lest I am forced to lift my dogs over the 4' fence and drop them on the other side when we arrive for our 6AM jaunt. :)
The good thing is that this new park is in a mostly industrial area save for the Holiday Inn and Cobble Hill apartments. Hopefully late night/early morning users will be reasonably quiet and we won't have similar problems over there.
i actually got in trouble with the police when i was really young for being in a park 'after dusk.' i simply just didn't know that was a rule. it's very strange.
It has lights (plenty of 'em)
