Marsala coming in place of Tip-Top Thai and Sushi--Teele Sq.

Tip-Top Thai has been out for a while--now I see that some renovation work is being done for another restaurant at 1127 Broadway in Teele Sq. A quick Google search says that the work is being done for a restaurant called Marsala, which applied for a beer and wine license. Anyone know anything about plans for this place?

Uh, Perhaps you are confusing marsala with masala? If the name of the restaurant is indeed "Marsala", it's more likely to be Italian than Indian.

That makes sense name-wise, but not so much with Amelia's being more or less next door. Hmm.

That was my thought exactly -- "Sounds Italian ... but really? Amelia's is next door ... hmmm." Unless it is perhaps being opened by the Amelia's owners and will be a different variation of their existing restaurant.

then again, Amelia's is disgusting, so if Marsala intends to serve food that doesn't suck, it makes good sense.

"Masala (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masala)" would probably be Indian, but "Marsala (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marsala_wine)" would most likely be Italian.

The sign is up on the restaurant and the winner is.... "Masala". Perhaps some confusion at the hearing by a clerk craving Italian food.
