Green Line Meeting Postponed; Snow Emergency Declared
SOMERVILLE – Tonight’s meeting with state officials regarding the Green Line extension into Somerville has been postponed due to the winter storm now threatening the region. City officials said forecasters are predicting 6 – 12 inches of heavy, wet snow beginning late this afternoon or early this evening.
Mayor Joe Curtatone declared a snow emergency for the city of Somerville beginning at 3 p.m. Residents must park on the odd side of the street. Cars not moved before 7 p.m. tonight will be subject to ticketing and towing. If residents are unable to find a parking space on the odd side of the street, they may park in any municipal or school parking lot for the duration of the emergency.
The School Committee meeting scheduled for tonight will occur. Committee members are expected to pick the finalist for school superintendent at the session.
The Executive Office of Transportation said they would reschedule tonight’s public hearing on the Green Line in the near future.
