The Illuminations *Bicycle* Tour - Saturday 12/18

Please join the Somerville Bicycle Committee on Saturday evening, Dec 18, to celebrate the coming of winter and year round cycling. We will enjoy a casual bike tour to see some of the city's homes warmly lit for the holidays.

We will meet at the Somerville High School entrance at 6:50pm, departing promptly at 7:15 pm.
We will tour the city in coordination with the Somerville Arts Council's Illuminations Holiday Tour. The start of our ride is scheduled halfway between two trolley departures, so we will not interfere with the trolley tour.

This is a winter evening ride, so please dress warmly and use bike lights.

Sounds like fun! Is there a route map available? How hilly is it?

We won't have a route map until the day of the event, since we expect to use the same route as the trolley tour. If the trolley route is similar to past years, it will be moderately hilly as it goes through Winter Hill.

(If you want your own copy of the route map that night, the Arts Council will be selling them inside City Hall for $3.)

Here's a tentative map. We will mostly follow the trolley route (blue line) but will deviate from it in two places (red lines marked as Detour 1 and Detour 3). Most likely we won't use the other red line marked Detour 2.

Most of it is not especially hilly, but it does gradually climb the east side of Winter Hill.

I miss the info about the trolley tour.

I walked by the (closed) Blue Cloud Gallery the other night, and the sign on the door didn't list any of times being sold out...

I don't know anything about ticket sales for the trolleys. Please make a new post about this if you want other people to see it, as this post is pretty old now.
