Bit o' Davis Square history

OK, so this is completely random.

When trawling Etsy for Somerville-related stuff (I'm a Davis Square expat), I found this. The address of the place is that of Rosebud, or rather, the building just behind. It's still there (you can see one chimney here), as part of the Italian place.  Pretty cool, no? Does anyone know anything about Jaunty Jack?

I can't add much to the story here but definitely some cool sleuthing work! I've no doubt that's the same building - that's exactly the same chimney.

Wow, never heard of this before!

When I first came to Somerville, this was the Rosebud's Surrey Room, and had a bad reputation. La Spina, shown in the Google street view, is no more; now it's the Rosebud Bar & Grill.

I just e-mailed this post off to the contact addresses for both the diner and the bar & grill.

It looks like Jaunty Jack predates the Rosebud diner car...it seems to be what the building behind the dining car looked like before it was added!
