Dog sitting recommendations?

We need to board our dog soon.  We usually take him to PetSmart but it is really expensive. Any recommendations?

i haven't used them, but there are some people who leave cards and info at porter sq vet. call or drop by?

We go to Porter Square Vet & I'll def. take a look tomorrow. I think most of those cards are for dog walkers. Our dog is sorta (okay, very very) neurotic and can't be left alone so we need 24 hr. company for our dog (he howls incessantly when left alone). Thanks for the tip.

Beagle, right? They must be the loneliest breed ever... I don't have one, but I lived in the neighborhood of one, and that poor thing would bay every minute someone wasn't actively playing with him! Good luck, he looks super-cute. :J

Not all beagles howl/bay when lonely. Our beagle pretty just naps when nobody is around (we've checked with neighbors). Here he is trying on a bullet proof vest at the SomDog festival last summer:

Not exactly local, but I know the woman who owns Paws Here (http://www.pawshereinc.com/Welcome_to_Paws_Here/Home.html) in Revere. They are a 24 hour Day Care for Dogs that is cage free.

Because they don't keep the dogs in cages they do have an 'interview' process for the dogs:

Attending Paws Here requirements:
Each dog is required to be spayed/neutered (after 6 months of age) and is required to have rabies, distemper and kennel cough vaccinations. Each dog must also come to an interview to make sure s/he is friendly, social, and safe with humans and other dogs.

Where did you end up boarding your dog? Ours doesn't seem to like PetSmart very much, so I'm wary of going there. She loves going to <http://thebarkwoodinn.com/>The Barkwood Inn, but it's out in Milbury and books up months in advance.
