Fatal fire on Chester Street

I walked by this an hour ago and wondered why the street was blocked off and full of fire trucks and police. Now i know:

This is on the east side of Chester, halfway between Mass. Ave. and Orchard St., right at the Cambridge-Somerville boundary line.

I didn't see any fire damage from the other side of the street, but it was pretty dark outside when I walked by.

Wow. So that's what happened.

I was in Davis Sq. today at mom's house and just leaving, down Mass. Ave when we saw the flashing lights and some smoke. It only looked like maybe two trucks and a police car was there, but all along Mass Ave (we were heading toward Harvard Sq.) heading West there were at least two more fire engines and another police car. I was going to look into this but really didn't think it would make the news...but, wow.

And, to read the blurb about Gina Grant...omg, I'm speechless.

That's my street! It's right across from my building.

The street's not blocked off any more, but there are still some vehicles on the scene.

I also live in the area, there are now lots of fire trucks/ambulances/police cars on Orchard... Corner of Chester St. and Orchard. I am a bit scared..

There's nothing to be scared of now, seven hours after the fire .... but let this be a reminder to check that your smoke and CO detectors are in working order.
