Hello, this is Michael Meehan from the City of Somerville, informing you that the current citywide snow emergency will remain in effect until further notice. Cars parked in designated municipal and school lots may remain there overnight and street parking should take place only on the odd-numbered side of the street to allow access for snow plows and public safety vehicles. Improperly parked cars will be ticketed and towed.

Trash collection will continue as normal on Thursday, however Christmas Tree collection will be suspended until Friday. City Hall offices will be open Thursday.

Property owners are also reminded that, per City ordinance, you may NOT shovel snow into the streets, and all sidewalks must be shoveled, salted or sanded by six hours following the end of a storm. Properties with unshoveled sidewalks will be subject to fines by the City's Inspectional Services Division. Thank you for your cooperation.

I can't think of a time when Somerville has ever announced an end time to a snow emergency ahead of time. When they know when it's gonna end, they call with the end time.

Hey DSLJ moderators, is there a way to get the comment timestamps to be in the same time zone as Davis Square? "Tomorrow" is confusing when it's Wednesday in Somerville and Thursday at the Greenwich observatory.

The timestamp on magid's comment is "2011-01-12 10:29 pm (local)", so I don't understand what you are asking for. The timestamp on this comment is "2011-01-13 12:58 pm (local) ", which is definitely EST and not GMT.

My local time zone setting is "US/Eastern". What is yours?

Ok, I set my account's time zone to Eastern, and that fixed it.

But if I'm not logged in, they're still in UTC. Is that a setting for the community that the mods could fix?
