Hello, this is Michael Meehan from the City of Somerville with snow alert information for Wednesday, January 26th. Based on current weather projections, the City will be declaring a snow emergency at 3:00pm tomorrow afternoon. During snow emergencies, parking is allowed on the odd-numbered side of the street ONLY, unless otherwise posted. Residents unable to find a parking spot on the odd-numbered side of the street may park in designated municipal or school lots, though school lots will not be available until 3 p.m. tomorrow because school will be in session. Cars not moved from the even side of the street by 7 p.m. tomorrow evening will be ticketed and towed. Thank you for your cooperation.

I was about to hit Post on my own version of this, but you beat me to it, of course. :)

I believe this will make for the 4th emergency (and maybe 6th day of emergency? I'd love to see the year-by-year stats in terms total hours of snow emergencies in effect) for the season, and it's still JANUARY. Will spring ever come? Oy.

True, but at least they have 24 hours notice to make arrangements. That's not too bad.

Yes, but I would have preferred the robocall happened yesterday (when this entry was written) rather than this morning. I did not know since I have been behind on lj, and when a friend called 311 yesterday around 5:30pm (or thereabouts) to ask about a snow emergency, one had not been called yet.

The snow is predicted to start between 5 and 7; especially given some room for the prediction to be wrong by a couple of hours, even at 7 it could have been snowing for hours. With some forecasts talking about an inch per hour, that's cutting it awfully close.

Of course, the alternative hypothesis is that the storm veers west, misses us, and we have another snow-panic-without-snow -- one of my favorite and most reliable New England weather patterns.

I would take it, no questions asked.

Same here. Had enough already this year and running out of places to put it all.
