So its been harder and harder to find odd side spots lately and with today's snow emergency coming so early, I need some help on the overflow lots.

Somerville's website states that all metered lots are fair game for snow emergencies, the closest I can think of are right on Buena Vista Rd. (accross from Orleans/Comcast building), and also the one across from Saccos that you access on Herbert St.

My question is, is that other lot NEXT to Saccos and behind CVS a municiple lot? Thus open for parking during snow emergencies?

There's a lot near me that seems fair game. On Central St. between Highland Medford. I have no idea who owns it. Sometimes it's used by Somerville Hospital and sometimes by the Armory. But in general, it's very empty. And quite handy during snowy times.

Cambridge Health Alliance (Somerville Hospital) used to own it, but they deeded it over to the city a few years ago, along with the land west of it that became Somerville Junction Park. The hospital and Verizon still have rights to park some vehicles there.

Dang, is there anything you don't know about Somerville? :) Seriously!

Well, I'm on the Bicycle Committee where this was a pretty frequent topic of discussion. The short path in Somerville Junction Park will eventually become part of the Community Path extension, at which time the parking lot will need to be redesigned to accomodate the path.

Are there any posted rules for that lot? If not, that's one of the few places in Somerville where a nonresident could park for more than 2 hours without a visitor permit.

Not that I can tell. A few spaces are marked as reserved for 'NYNEX' (which these days means Verizon). The Armory uses it as an overflow lot for many events.

Haha I was thinking the same thing...it's so handy to have a resident expert, I've benefited a lot from Ron's advice in the past.
