Go to Downtown Crossing, and shop at Kenmore Army & Navy store. It's at 477 Washington Street, which is located across the street from the Macy's there, about a half block from the exit to the Downtown Crossing T stop. I found a great hat there in my husband's size (XXL, which is hard to find). Prices are really good, and the people who work there were really helpful to me. Not only do they have good ole wool hats, but they have everything from cheapo synthetic to bomber style to rabbit-fur Russian style hats.
I bought three last week at Marshall's in Twin City Plaza (quick bus ride on the #87 or #88) and another at Shaw's grocery store. I bet CVS or Rite-Aid might have some. They were in odd spots and on sale, but easy to find.
