I am in the beginning stages of starting a child photography business that centers around candid shots of children embedded in play. I love seeing children’s eyes light up when they first understand how something works. I enjoy taking snap shots of them when they are trying to wrestle with themselves to stay awake. It is said that children grow up faster than we know, take the time to preserve these special moments.

I am working on expanding my portfolio. For a limited time only I have reduced the fees to $20 per hour. Please contact me to set up a time with your little one at: erica.brule@gmail.com

You tagged this 'open studios'. Are you part of SOS in May?

Do you have examples of your previous work (child, non-child, still lifes, whatever) posted somewhere we could look at?

This is meant as completely not-snarky advice, but as a photog myself *any* time I hear someone mention they have tons and tons of "breathtaking" (amazing, fabulous, whatever) photos but can't show them because they don't have permissions, I immediately think scam, hack, or someone who is very amateur and thinks their rebel digital slr makes them a semi-pro.

Obviously everyone has to start somewhere. If your current portfolio is lacking kids pics you can share, a great way to build it up is to offer 2-3 friends/families with kids in your target range a free session (and of course use a photo release that allows you to use the images for marketing purposes). Even a flickr page would be better than nothing for showing your work.

Good luck!

Did someone say "put up or shut up"? ;)

(I used to have a dedicated set of pages for my work, but that was a lifetime ago when I was trying to be a real artist.)

My "child" is brown, furry, and walks on 4 -legs. And he's probably more likely to express himself with a ball than with a paintbrush. But if you'd like to include him in your portfolio, I'd love to set up a session with you.
