A group of Japanese parents in Arlington is organizing a "kamishibai" (traditional Japanese storytelling for children using art panels) / bake sale event to help the victims of the Tohoku earthquake:
"Shunsuke Yamaguchi, Arlington artist and teacher, will perform two Kamishibai tales: The Grateful Crane & The Story of Momotaro. Traditional Japanese folk tales told in artistic panels with a modern twist. A delicious bake sale to follow the event. Bring some money to buy yummy Japanese and American treats."
Date & Time: March 26 (Sat) at 1pm
Venue: Calvary United Methodist Church,
300 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA
$3 donation suggested per person
All donations at the door will go to the Japanese Association of Greater Boston, which will in turn send the money to Japan to help the earthquake victims. The Association will donate the money to the most appropriate and effective organization, to be determined based on the guidance from the Consulate General of Japan in Boston.
ETA: If you can't attend the event on 3/26 and would still like to make a donation, please write a check payable to "Japanese Association of Greater Boston" with "Donation for earthquake relief fund" written on the Memo/For line and send it to:
Japanese Association of Greater Boston
