((Mods: If this is too far flung, I apologize, and will delete.))

A couple days ago, I was exiting the Porter Exchange building (1815 Mass Ave, in the Porter Square area) and a car pulled out from the curb and drove off. As it did, an envelope fell off of the top of it.

The car was gone before I got a chance to get a license plate, or any details, but I have the envelope, and I'd like to return it to its owner if it's important. I haven't opened it yet. (though will if that seems necessary).

It's a brown envelope, about six inches by eight inches, and feels like it has some sort of cardstock or photostock inside. The outside says "From: Vedaste To: David Ellis"

If you are David Ellis or Vedaste, get in touch with me through comments here, please!

(And yes, I tried Facebook. There are a _lot_ of David Ellis's, and I'm not having any luck narrowing down to the ones I should even try messaging)

It's reasonable to post here but I suggest you also post to http://boston.craigslist.org/laf (and maybe watch it to see if someone reports such an envelope lost)

Under these circumstances, I'd open the envelope now to see if it has any additional clues about how to locate the owner.

Why not give it to the security desk in the exchange? Seems like if I lost something I would go there first.

That assumes the driver was also visiting Porter Exchange, which may not be the case.

This is the most google-able David Ellis in Cambridge I could find:

http://www.wickedlocal.com/cambridge/news/x624985563/Interim-director-named-at-Harvard-Museum-of-Natural-History#axzz1IxeiN3tu
who has contact information here:

If they're pictures of natural history, I vote for it being him!

Odd. I saw a chalk mark there pointing to a sign that said "envelopes left here are property of Anna Chapman."

If it does happen to be the museum David Ellis, I know him and would be happy to let him know about this.
