Thanks for posting, but could you please un-bold and un-italicize most of the text? Thanks.

If this weren't the second night of Passover I'd gladly attend your show.

Making a whole post bold and italic actually makes it much harder to read.

The whole post is bolded and the text is huge.
I missed key information on the first read (such as the date) because text was so spread out.
Also: when a post has excessive use of bold, italic, and text size distortion, it makes the message look like spam.

The date (Tuesday, April 19) is in the subject line only. (It's often a good idea to repeat it in the body text since people often mentally skip over subject lines.)

I honestly don't read any post that's all spread out and bolded like this. My brain automatically assumes spam and moves on. At the moment, I couldn't tell you what this post is about except that it's some kind of show.

I don't think it matters if you disagree if a mod tells you to...

to be fair, I didn't identify myself as a mod when I posted my request. Anyway, it's un-bolded now. In the future, better to just post plain text into the HTML tab (instead of the Rich Text tab) then selectively add desired formatting.

How about because it's stated in the community rules?

"Formatting: Please post in plain text. The occasional bold or italic tag is fine, but extensively formatted entries won't properly display on many people's friends pages. Please do not post using large or colored fonts."

agreed. any other explanation will result in a pointless discussion (see above)

Thanks, we moderators appreciate this. You can still use some bold and italic for emphasis (such as to highlight dates or addresses), just don't fill the post with it.

(And good luck with the show! I really regret not being able to attend.)

It's also in hard-coded black text, which means that I couldn't see a word of it. Hard-coding text color on LiveJournal is a bad idea because most people read posts from their "friends list", which picks up their journal color settings. Mine is set to light text on black, so your post was all black-on-black.

I didn't even realize that, but ... yeah, it's best to not specify font colors at all when posting here, unless you just want to highlight a few words here and there.

Seriously, if LJ gave us moderators the power to turn off Rich Text entirely here, we would.

Yeah, I still actually have no idea what the ad was for, I just hit the comments to politely tell them it was completely illegible and found that that was an improvement over TO BOLDLY ILLEGE where everyone has illeged before IDK.

Are the rules for posting in certain text there for smart-phone readers also? I just assumed that to be the case

the rules predate the word "smartphone", I think. (I have no idea what this LJ community looks like on a phone.)
