This week, Parts and Crafts is hosting a free open house event during our April Vacation Week program for kids and parents who are curious about our programs and want to learn more about what we do!

What we're doing:   A hands-on workshop in maskmaking and sculpture design!    Part imaginative costume design, part urban exploration, we'll work with kids to transform public space according to their own guerilla vision, creating small-scale, imaginative sculptures out of paper and wood -- which we will then take and place in temporary locations around Somerville.     Hosted by Clay Ward, sculptor and guerilla artist extraordinaire, and by Parts and Crafts, this event will run for THREE DAYS during April Vacation week (next week).

This workshop is generously supported by the Somerville Arts Council -- we hope you'll come check it out! If you're curious about how our summer programs work, it's a great chance to come by and see how they work -- and make something cool in the process!     Details below!

*************************************************************

What: Parts and Crafts Open House: Making Masks!
Where: Parts and Crafts, 155 Powder House Blvd @ Clarendon Hill
Presbyterian Church
When: April 19-22 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) from 1-3 p.m.
Who: Kids of all ages (parents are welcome to stay and participate)
How much: Free! ($5 materials cost)
Registration:    http://www.eventbrite.com/myevent?eid=1138299685

NOTE: Because the workshop will run during our regularly scheduled camp program, we have to limit it to just kids and their parents.
Sorry grown-ups! We like you too, but this one's just for kids.

What's Parts and Crafts? The Parts and Crafts Collective is a group of thinkers, teachers, and tinkerers in the Boston area who are
interested in helping people build, think, create, succeed, fail, and learn. We run hands-on creative arts, science, and engineering
programs for kids and adults to help people learn and do and make things. We run summer camps and vacation week programs, as well as classes and events, all of out of our workshop in West Somerville.

For questions or more details, email katie@partsandcrafts.org, or visit our website at www.partsandcrafts.org.

Looks like fun. If you can put the part from ***** down behind an <lj-cut> tag, people will appreciate it.

The Eventbrite registration link tells me "Only the event owner can modify this event." I think the correct link is: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/1138299685

Is this something where you can drop in for one or more of the three days?

I had the same question, and since signing up on EventBrite asked me to pick which day I was signing up for, I concluded that it's a one-day-at-a-time event, not a series of 3 that you need to be there for all of. I may have concluded wrong, but we're going on Thursday and not the other days. ;-)
