Holy Week Services at St. James in Teele Square

 St James Church, an inclusive, diverse congregation in Teele Square, is offering the following services for Holy Week:

April 21 -- 7:00 pm    Maundy Thursday    Holy Eucharist and Stripping of the Altar

April 22 -- 7:00 pm    Good Friday    Good Friday Liturgy with Hymns, Sung Passion and Preaching

April 24 -- 10:00 am    Easter Sunday    Festal Holy Eucharist with Hymns, Preaching and Special Music

Easter Sunday Service followed by light brunch and Easter Egg Hunt

All are welcome.  Please join us!

may i ask why you describe yourselves as inclusive and diverse?

Because there is currently a schism in the Episcopal Church between conservatives, who opposed the ordaining of a gay Bishop and believe homosexuality is sinful, and people like us who believe God loves and accepts everyone just as they are. Since it's an Episcopal congregation, I thought it was important to indicate which side of the schism we are on. Hence,inclusive.

Our congregation includes gay, lesbian, straight, also various races and ethnic backgrounds, old folks, young folks, kids, etc. Hence, diverse.

We welcome everyone who wants to worship. Denominations and categories not important!

Although I don't see a history on the church's web site, I suspect that St. James is older than you, me, or anyone else reading this ;-)

i believe i was referring to dslj rather than teele square, but i suppose as a metaphor that's not very clear :)

Also, it's important to point out that if anyone has a catholic or other denomination background you may recieve communion at an Episcopal church, Whereas, at most Catholic Churches you must be baptized/confirmed catholic to receive. Which makes it inclusive as well!

St. James in Teele is where I go for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services, but I will be away this year for Holy Week attending my childhood parish.

thanks -- much appreciate the denominational clue. (my in-laws are catholic, i personally don't know much about the politics and relatives of christian practice.)
