Tufts Powderhouse field locked permanently?

For several years the field right at powderhouse circle has had a chain link fence and a gate but no lock. Since last fall Tufts put up a new fence that's somewhat taller with bars and I've noticed the gate is locked. I've never seen any kind of team practicing on this field and it was really mostly only used by various people in the community for different sports. It would be unfortunate to lose this field since there aren't a ton of places like that around. Does anyone know why it's locked and if it will be that way all year?

Also I read that hogkins-curtain park will be opening this summer once the grass is established, anyone know if they have a set a date for that yet?

Somerville Youth Soccer practices there every week night and has games every Saturday morning.

Quite possibly they decided that they didn't want to be an unofficial dog park any more, despite signs that prohibited pets.

Or just that their lawyers finally got around to telling them that they're responsible for accidents that happen on their land, and so they decided to take better control over who does what on it...

Perhaps, but they have a number of fields on campus that aren't locked up around the clock.

Are they? Some states have laws protecting people from lawsuits related to recreation on their land.

Hogkins-Curtain will be open after the summer growing season, but I'm not sure there's a date yet.
