Construction on Boston Ave.

I know this isn't exactly Davis Square, but there has been construction going on near my house on Boston Ave. for over three weeks now. There is a giant hole in the ground right near Nick's Pizza. I would really like to know what is is, when it's going to be over, and when all these construction trucks are going to leave. My house can only take so much shaking.

If there aren't utility company trucks anywhere with an obvious logo on them, or a sign identifying what company's worksite it is, maybe call your city alderman? Especially since at this point it sounds like it's being pretty disruptive and you're worried about possible property damage to your house or its contents. You might at least find out some info on who's responsible and an expected completion date. Talk to your neighbors, too, and encourage them to call. If enough people start complaining and/or asking questions, the city might be able to exert some pressure to accelerate completion or require mitigation or something. Good luck.

There are trucks with a contractor's name, but that's about it. It's not going to damage my house at all, but it is somewhat annoying.

Judging from the equipment and tubes I've seen laying about the sites, it likely has something to do with the pipes. It may be related to the work going on down the street near rt 16
