I have a large quantity of used but functional random housewares. Towels, silverware (some needs polishing), a two cup rice cooker, a small waffle iron, and two frying pans. I'd love to either donate them or give them to a tag sale for, say, 50% of what they sell for. Does anyone know where I could bring these things? I don't know if Goodwill does home good-type things.

That's all the kind of stuff you can give to any charity like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or one of the charities that does pickups like Vietnam Vets, Big Brother/Big Sister, Epilepsy Founation, etc. Or ditch the lot on a Freecycle list or Craigslist "Free." I wouldn't expect to get any money for them anywhere unless they're high-end.

A friend of mine talked to me recently about a refugee group that accepts donations of that kind for recent folks who have needs like that. I'll see if I can get more details.

Also, used towels are welcome as donations by Angell/MSPCA and other animal rescue places (and maybe your local vet), to use a bedding for sick/boarded animals.
