I am getting married next June and am looking for a local vegan caterer. I tried to reach the folks at True Bistro, but it seems that they don't cater. We had a really bad meal at Pulse last year, so though I understand they cater they are out. I was hoping others might have some suggestions for something in the neighborhood or otherwise...

Hm, if you're into Asian fare, try Grasshopper in Allston? I don't know whether they cater.

And congratulations!

call and ask at Cambridge School for Culinary Arts, 617-354-2020 and ask them to ask around? Many staff, students and grads cater.

Guru the Caterer has an extensive selection of vegan dishes as part of their catering menu (they also offer about 3 vegan options daily for the restaurant)

If you don't mind a caterer that doesn't just do veggie/vegan, we had a great vegetarian (and a lot of the food was vegan or close to it) wedding using Season to Taste, down on Mass Ave.

Not cheap, but they were great.

I second STT. They were AMAZING for our wedding. And I had made a point of having a vegan appetizer and entree (though the rest was meat-based), since I have vegan relatives. They have done all-vegetarian weddings. I bet they could do an all-vegan one. Especially if it was during late summer, so they could do the heirloom tomato tasting bar I've read so much about. :) As an April bride, I couldn't get that one.

But seriously, they are amazing. The food was not only good as wedding food goes, it was good as food goes, period.

I went to a party catered by Allandale Farms http://www.allandalefarm.com/ that was vegetarian and really wonderful. Unfortunately, I can't find any information about their catering or if they have a vegan menu.

Check with the Boston Vegetarian Society • (617) 424-8846 • info@BostonVeg.org

They have a restaurant listing on their website, but no caterers listed. But if you call/email they might be able to help. They do have several vegetarian (strict) caterers who have tables at the Vegetarian Food Festival every year, and they can probably put you in touch with some of them.

(I thought they might have a PDF of their zine from the festival from last year, which lists the exhibitors, but I can't find it on their website.)

Pulse has completely overhauled their menu (new chef and possibly new owners). It's pretty casual food, and quite possibly not what you are looking for, but it might be very different from what you're thinking. I think the change was around November or December 2010.

I still had an awful meal there recently, and somewhat rude service, which is unfortunate since I am a huge fan of having a vegan restaurant nearby! Frankly, I think their old menu was much better.

I don't know anything about it, but a new catering place is open on Mass Ave just outside Davis, called Season to Taste. I don't know if they do vegan or not, but you could ask...

Just past where the bike path crosses Cameron Avenue and then Mass Avenue, towards Arlington a bit, in the same little strip as Marco's sub shop, where the sign store used to be. Before you get to Norton's liquor store. They do not appear to also be a restaurant.

Actually, they are where a Mexican restaurant used to be. The sign shop is still there. They are not a restaurant per se, but they have a single large table, and you can book it for a private dinner of ~10 people, in addition to using it for tasting dinners for people looking to book them for catering.

Season to Taste and Fork Lift Catering are two great local companies that source pretty much everything they serve locally. Both are worth a phone call!
