I'm looking for local mulberry trees, especially ones on public land/friendly owners. Anyone know any good locations?
There was a brief mention in this older post, but I'm hoping to find additional trees.

Mulberries are pretty much past now, at least in our area.

Nah, there's one outside One Alewife Center that is still full of ripe berries. Not sure about the status of the soil, though -- it is in the area of Grace Chemical Company. It is trailing off, though.

There's a mulberry tree in E. Arlington on Mass Ave, somewhere within a few blocks of Winter. I can't recall exactly, but when it has fruit, it's quite obvious from the mess on the sidewalk.

I think that would be the eastern (or NE) corner of Teel and Mass Ave.

There are also a couple at the end of Varnum St: a sprawling one with black mulberries on the corner of Varnum and Brooks, and then if you walk toward the bikeway, there's a taller one with white mulberries (which I think are sweeter and juicier) on your left. But for the latter, you'll want to bring a ladder.

Oh man, I remember walking somewhere with my cousin recently and pointing out a mulberry tree that reminded me of our aunt's house. Now I have NO idea where that was. So this comment is not really helpful, but it's got me racking my brain about where we've been recently, and if I come up with it, I'll come back here.

Fir future reference (the berries are gone past now, I believe, as Rosie mentioned), there are several HUGE trees with very low hanging branches (or they always have been anyway) in the back of the Jeanne Jugan (sp?) building (along the back fence). The Jeanne Jugan building is a retirement home for nuns or run by nuns or something like that involving nuns, and they are quite friendly there, though it is technically private property. This building is across from the Armory on Highland Ave.

There's one somewhere on Walnut Street between my house and union square. The driveway was absolutely covered with drops.

There's one in Foss Park, and at least one in Magnolia Park. There used to be one where the bike path runs next to Alewife station, but I couldn't find that one the last time I went looking.

There are several behind somerville high school - walk down the path on school st behind city hall, at what seems to be the end of the path, turn right up a hill. At the top of the hill, look to your right, 2 gigantic trees. They peak in late june - yumm. One tree is dark berries, the other is light, and there are a few smaller trees around it. Prolific with plenty of berries for everyone.

There are large white mulberries on broadway at the end of central - cross broadway and it's on the small patch of grass on the other side before main st. They peak in mid/late june.

Our house has one - we're in Medford. Not sure where it's at in the season.
