Yoshi's reopened today

A couple months ago, someone asked about the unexpected closing of Yoshi's restaurant in Powderhouse Square. I still don't know why it closed, but today is the Grand Reopening, according to signs posted in the window.

Is it particularly special, worth a trip if I live right by Bluefin in Porter?

Well, I can say that the atmosphere at Yoshi's (at least before reopning - perhaps they renovated?) was not as fancy as bluefin. I've eaten at bluefin twice and yoshi's only once, so not really qualified to say anything about the food; I have been happy with the food at both. Yoshi's is probably a little less expensive.

It's pretty close to Davis so if you're there anyway and want sushi, give it a try, but if you already really like Bluefin, .. *shrug* ?

No, it's quite ordinary as far as sushi is concerned. I've honestly had better sushi at Taipei Tokyo in Davis. Stick to Bluefin.

Particularly damning as my one time at TT got "Pricey and not that good", though I was having Singapore rice noodle with miso, not sushi.

One time at Taipei Tokyo we got a long black hair in our food. Okay, sure, that happens at restaurants sometimes. The disturbing thing is that when we reported it, _they didn't care at all_.

it's varied a lot over the years. no telling how it'll be now imho. maybe wait for reviews.
