L'Impasto - new Italian restaurant opening at Mass Ave & Dover St

An Italian restaurant called L'Impasto, whose posted menu emphasizes pasta dishes, will open this Wednesday, August 17, at 11 am. It is in the former Cafe Bengal space, next to Yummy Thai Cuisine on Mass. Ave. between Dover and Day streets.

This is not a productive comment, but I have to say I think the name choice is a really poor one. It sounds awfully close to "limp Pasta" which I'm sure i snot what they are going to. I'm sure it means something in Italian and I'm just being silly.... Anyways, hope they make it; might give them a try in the next few weeks, depending on how the prices look.

It means "the dough" or "the mixture". It's actually kind of a gross name, from an Italian's perspective. It sounds... damp and gooey.

Everyone I know, including me, has made the same comment when hearing/seeing their name for the first time. If I were opening an Italian place, I wouldn't choose a name that sounded like either "limp pasta" or "impostor" depending on how you say it.
