Hi Davis Squares,

The other night, my neighbor's truck was broken into and then my bike (a 52cm SPECIALIZED Langster Tokyo w water bottle and lock holder) was taken from my garage. It's very distinctive looking, as it's black, red, and gold. There are gold designs and Japanese characters all over it. It's a single speed with flip flop hub. I've put up a post on Craigslist offering a reward, and posters all over the Square and the High school. It's been registered with the National Bike Registry as being stolen and everyone I know is on the lookout. It's one of those bikes where you see the bike before you see the rider on it. If you do see it, I will give you $$$ and buy you dinner! PLEASE!

Thanks.

Alexis

Just so this can serve as a warning to others ... in what neighborhood did this theft happen?

Eyes peeled, and good fortune in finding it!

On August 14 there was a craiglist 'wanted' post from a guy looking for your exact bike and offering $500...maybe you could email him and see if he got one..? The ad is still online, poster is from Waltham.

Just moved here for school from Seattle. I'm a biker and I have my road bike with me. But having another ride to show off to the ladies and commuting, in my opinion, is imperative. I also love the fixie scene, and really want a Specialized Langster...especially the New York version. The Tokyo and Vegas versions are also catchy. I'm a short guy so the bike must be 48-52ish in size. Fixie riders know what I'm talking about.
Hit me back if you have my dream ride.
Peace

Hi
I know the wanted message was posted before your theft, but I think that is the trend in craigslist...someone posts a wanted item, and then another person "finds" it for them. It even happens with pets. A lot of times the wanted poster is unaware that their wanted item was stolen. I'm not suggesting this is what happened with this post, but it certainly is a possibility. Someone posted a wanted ad for your bike and then a couple days later your bike was stolen....I don't know,it might be worth checking into. I'm sorry for your loss, a couple weeks ago someone jacked up my car overnight and stole the wheels, I feel your frustration. Thieves are total lowlifes. Good luck, I'll keep looking around for you.

Is your userpic a picture of the bike? (If so, can you link to a larger picture? If not, do you have a picture?)

Any luck? I've had this tab open in sympathy and to remind me to keep my eye out. When I thought my bike had been stolen earlier this summer I was totally crushed. I told my housemate that it felt like she might if her car had been totaled and she had no way to get another. I was supremely lucky that it turned out it was the DPW who stole my bike (I do kinda say stole cos they have not been able to provide a justification). The DPW and police apparently don't share any info about stolen bike reports that might match bikes DPW took. I doubt that's what happened to you, but if you haven't it'd be worth a try calling 311 to see if they know anything the cops don't.
