I notice that, at least in my neighborhood (Wilson Square), cars left out for the street sweeper don't seem to get towed as often as before. In 2003 I got hauled two or three times before the sweepers hibernated for the winter; last year I probably goofed as many times, but got only a ticket when I did. Judging by the many ticketed but otherwise unmolested cars I can see outside my window this morning, it looks like the start of another such year here.

Is this just my neighborhood, or has the city become less tow-happy?

i think it's a neighborhood thing. there are only so many cops and tow-trucks, so it's kind of like 'how does santa claus deliver all those presents in ONE NIGHT?'. I don't know how they choose what neighborhoods to do though, since it seems to be the same ones year after year: noisy alderman about dirty streets; richer/poorer, whatever.

Well, that could be it. I lived in three apartments within a two block radius during those 6 years. I kept moving up and down Spring Hill.
