I haven't been following this aside from glancing at the articles as posted. But I wonder about an incumbent who wins by half a percentage and then declares it an endorsement of their record.
What would you have said? "I'm scared that I did so badly. Katjana's going to kick my ass in November?"
Of course people are going to spin the results in a way that favors them. Personally I think these results are not good news for Trane. The turnout will be different in November and Puglia's voters are up for grabs, so it is really anyone's ballgame.
