This weekend in Davis Square: HONK Saturday, HONK Parade Sunday, Oktobefest Sunday

Saturday is HONK Festival, all over Davis Square from noon to 9 pm.

Sunday, starting at noon, is the HONK Parade from Davis Square to Harvard Square's Oktoberfest. (I'll be one of the parade marshals, probably on bike. Wave if you see me.)

Meanwhile, back in Davis Square, Somerville is having its own Oktoberfest on Sunday. I wish they were doing this a week later, as it doesn't make sense to me to compete with Harvard Square's much larger and more established event.

I was surprised that there are basically no road closures due to HONK in Jackie Rosetti's message. Isn't there often more pedestrian space in the square somewhere during HONK?

I recall only Chester Street in front of Redbones being closed to traffic during the Saturday part of HONK. The other stages are all in parks and plazas (Seven Hills Park, Statue Park, Kenney Park, the private plaza next to Starbucks, the plaza in front of the VFW).

I think the reason they decided to have an Oktoberfest is to try to keep all those parade watchers in Davis, rather than following the parade into Harvard.

I'm excited to attend the Davis Square Oktoberfest, m'self. It's our first year living in New England, and this will be our first Oktoberfest as well. Good times.

Any idea where would be the most reliable update on rain cancellation? Wouldn't want to bike all the way out there, then find that it's moved to next weekend.
