Leather scraps?

I'm looking to start playing around with leather, and was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere to get a heap of leather scraps locally (or at least within the Boston metro area). I know I can get old leather goods at goodwill, but I'd prefer to have a little more variety in color and thickness than I could get with one old jacket. Free or cheap is definitely a plus.

There's a Tandy Leather in Chelmsford.

Sometimes Goodwill has leather skirts/slacks/shorts in addition to leather jackets.

Try tailors/dry cleaners. I had a friend who got fabric for quilting from local tailors. I imagine they run into leather from time to time.

Some of the fabric stores will have some from time to time -- I've found nice pieces of leather at Sewfisticated a few times, but not reliably. On the other hand, I haven't asked after it there.

Depending on what you're trying to do with it, how it was treated/finished may matter a lot.

Last time I needed such things, I found them at a crafts store. There were lots of scraps in a bag for $5 or something.

Any particular store? I may try Playtime in Arlington as I hear they've got a huge selection of just about anything.

Not Boston metro, but I was at Bearskin Neck Leather in Rockport last week and they were selling bags of scraps.
