a sprout spaghetti dinner on Wed Oct 12
Oct. 8th, 2011 10:34 amHey everyone!
We're having another sprout spaghetti dinner over at sprout this Wednesday at 730PM...
At this month's dinner we're going to look at ways we interpret human and animal motion and translate it into a whole variety of other things like meaning, music, robotic gestures, or computation. We'll explore ways that people use motion: from physical interfaces on digital worlds to motion tracking devices that allow people to better understand the movement of their own body.
We're still nailing down the program, but our performers will be sharing projects, ideas, and performances including ::
+ poi spinning that generates music in response to choreography
+ a robotic cheetah designed on the principles of animal locomotion
+ a look at some of the motion interpretation happening in the Kinect-based video game Dance Central
+ and, well, just plain music making!
This month's dinner is this Wednesday October 12. As usual, we'll meet at 730PM for dinner with performances starting at 8PM, all at sprout's studios at 339R Summer St. in Somerville just outside Davis Square. There will be spaghetti, drinks, and bread for all. We encourage you to bring your own plates and utensils, though we will have paper options. And, lastly, there is a $10 suggested donation, though all are welcome.
Let us know if you have any questions, and we hope to see you there!

Date: 2011-10-11 05:12 pm (UTC)Yeah, our website is a little out of date =P We actually stopped running programs in big sets/"semesters" and are transitioning to a rolling schedule as well as trying to get a new website up. So, there should be an updated list coming. We have a couple things in that are getting rolling now, but none are totally concrete yet.
I'll post to LJ when we get the new site up!
