Here in Somerville more and more residents are choosing to ‘buy local’. Shoppers flock to the seasonal Farmers Markets in Davis Square and Union Square as well as a Winter Farmers Market at the Armory. Residents and business owners alike participate in the popular ‘Somerville Local First’ movement in support of local businesses that choose to invest here in our city.

Here in Somerville we ‘act local’. Somerville Open Studios, SomerStreets, Art Beat, Fluff Fest, Honk!, and the Illuminations Tour are just a few gems that bring our community together like no other city does. Somerville also bands together around important local issues like Shape Up Somerville, Somerville Spring Clean Up, Teen Empowerment, the Community Bike Path, and the Green Line Extension. Remember the hundreds of residents who participated in the Green Line Extension Community Meeting the night our beloved Red Sox claimed the 2004 World Series? Now that is Somerville pride!

While door knocking across the city and attending various community events, I've met many people who are passionate about Somerville. I've heard great ideas about how to improve the city and keep things moving in a positive direction. I've also heard their concerns and frustrations.

On Tuesday, November 8th, the voters of Somerville have an opportunity to help shape the future of our community. With your ballot, you can help define and fulfill Somerville’s promise. There are a number of choices for Alderman-At-Large race. Take the opportunity these next few weeks to learn more about the candidates. Most importantly, get to your polling place and vote for Somerville’s future.

Voter turnout is historically low for elections like the one coming up on November 8th. The Presidential and Congressional elections are still a year away. Ask yourself - what has Washington DC done for you lately? Tip O’Neill is famous for his line, “all politics is local”. Local elections matter! The Board of Aldermen have a direct impact on your quality of life here in Somerville - from city ordinances to city budgets, from public safety to public works, from land use to economic development.

Hey Somerville – let’s shape the future of our great city starting November 8th.

VOTE LOCAL!

I've met Todd on numerous occasions over the past few months and have been quite favorably impressed. Our city could use some new blood on the Board of Aldermen.

(Todd, can you edit your post to include a link to your campaign web site, Todd4Somerville.com ?)
