Probable Lost Dog Sighting

I didn't see anything on CL about this, and I've already called it in to 311. But in case it's relevant to anyone here:

On my way out the door this morning (near the intersection of Bay State and Broadway), I saw a frightened dog without a person in my front yard, crouching its way around the side of the house. It looked to be a short-haired Husky mix, though a bit smaller than a Husky. It was wearing a collar and I could hear tags jingling, but I couldn't get close enough to read them. The dog's posture was submissive but also on the defense. When I extended my closed hand to be sniffed, it chewed the air in a troubled way but wouldn't sniff. I got the impression it was seeking shelter from the rain.

It disappeared around the side yard to the back, and because I was already late for work, I didn't follow it. I think it would like to go home. If you've lost a dog that sounds like this, Bay State and surrounding streets might be a good place to go looking this morning.

I also saw this dog this morning... on Broadway near Bay State. I also kept going because I was late for work. When I missed my bus and realized I would have to wait for the next one anyway, I went back to look for him, but he had already moved on (presumably to Bay State) by then.

Now I wish I had stopped when I first saw him :/

I felt awful for the poor dog. If I hadn't been late for work, I would have spent more time trying to gain his/her trust enough to read the tags. I hope home isn't too far away, and that someone is looking for the dog now.

Same here. But when I got to work and told my boss about it, he said helping the dog is a good reason to be late, so I feel bad that I didn't just stop the first time. I hope he/she's ok, poor thing.
