Nice time to drop by the bikeway garden!

I'm the coordinator for the bikeway community garden, behind the Brooks drugstore by the T stop. We've got hundreds of tulips in full bloom now, and it's a great time to drop by and take a look at them! It's so nice to see the effort we put into the fall workdays pay off. :-)

Is there a website for the community garden? How is it administered? Who gets to plant there?

Each of the community gardens (Somerville has about six) has its own waiting list, loosely coordinated by the city Conservation Commission. Bikeway Garden's waiting list is about two years long. If you'd like a plot, you can call the conservation commission. (The city needs to keep track of the requests, but the bikeway requests make their way to me.)

I never knew who worked on the community garden! Hello! And thank you. Really! Thank you for making such a lovely contribution to the community. The crocuses by the side of the path were the first flowers of spring I saw this year. It always makes me happy to walk by and see what has newly cropped up!

blessed are you, for you grow lots of kale, and soon garlic, and just enough sugar snap peas to snack on while harvesting.

and a brief PSA: Don't throw your trash and cigarette butts on the garden!!!! It makes us sad to have to pick trash out of the garden!
