Update & Request
Oct. 29th, 2011 04:54 amHello, DS! We were introduced to this LJ community by a friend when my hubby and I were homeless and got 'evicted' from our sleeping spot next to Harvard Vanguard in Davis in September. I hope that it's not objectionable for me to post here, not actively being in Davis right now...
However, if any of you would be willing to share links to my blog and/or Etsy shop with your friends and social networks, we would be hugely appreciative of help in getting the word out. I've posted a few dozen new pieces to Etsy in the past week and have more that I hope to be listing within the next few days; I have a lot of pieces and sets that would make great holiday gifts, and I can also offer you a discount code to share: FRIENDS15 will take 15% off of any order.
Here is my most recent blog post, which directly addresses our immediate need and sustainability. This post, from yesterday, offers an intimate, nutshell look at what things have been like for us since becoming homeless:
Many thanks in advance to anyone willing to help us get the word out. We would also be extremely appreciative of any prayers and positive energy that you might be able to send our way!
I guess the part of the situation that makes posting this here particularly appropriate is that, if we do end up homeless again, we'll probably be in Davis. It felt like the safest place for us to be outdoors when we previously had no choice, and we couldn't stay outdoors somewhere that I can't at least sell jewelry to try and meet our basic needs, so we would definitely be unable to remain in Salem. Plus, we loved being a part of the community in Davis -- we only left because we were offered a place to stay in Salem.
Blessings,
I'm posting now because a lot of you have helped me and AJ in some way, whether you made a donation, gave us emotional support or did something in some other way that shows you care about our situation and well-being. (I also do not have any other way to get in touch with most of you.) We are still in an extremely scary and precarious situation right now and need all of the support we can get, so we are reaching out to ask for help. We're not asking you to make donations or buy things from us.

Date: 2011-10-30 09:24 am (UTC)We still need any help that anyone may be able and willing to provide with sharing links, prayers and sending positive energy; if we aren't able to forge some bit of cushion for ourselves soon, the huge deal that has been coming up with rent each week without many resources available to us will keep preventing us from being able to move forward with long-term needs and goals, and we're going to end up right back out on the street one of these weeks, with the added danger of winter arriving early this year.
Our continued thanks to everyone who has reached out in the past and over the last two days, again or for the first time, sent good energy our way, helped our voices be heard by others, and generally contributed to our safety and well-being by giving a damn whether or not we end up back outside.
