Bone Appetit, the "gourmet pet food" store at 389 Highland Ave, is closed. There's a Space For Lease sign in the window. Perhaps they'd still be around if the city hadn't closed down their other line of business.

I went there once when they first opened, just to look around. My husband had owned Your Move Games, and I have a dog, so I was curious about the shop. The pet food prices were slightly more expensive than Pet Supplies Plus, but that made sense because of 1. small store and 2. convenience to people without a car. Since there were pet stores in both Alewife (near Trader Joes) and at Broadway+Willow Street, as well as another near the Porter Square Shaws/Whatever it is now, I was dubious about the viability of such a store. Since this was before Buzzy's opened, there was no evidence of any er, questionable merchandise. We spoke of the air conditioner/heating system and other "prior renter" issues, and I never returned.
