Old hinges?
Nov. 2nd, 2011 11:24 amHelp me, O DSLJ! I made the foolish mistake of throwing away my bedroom door's hinges when I took it off to repaint it. They were in bad shape and I thought they would be easily replaced -- but I was wrong! It turns out that 3 x 3.5" hinges are extremely non-standard. Or at least, extremely particular to Somerville.
So I'm hoping that someone out there has a couple of old hinges looking for a nice door to hang out with. They need to have three holes and be 3 inches wide (measured from bottom corner to bottom corner when open, across the join) and 3.5 inches high (measured from bottom corner to top corner, excluding height of hinge itself). (I'm also searching Ebay, but no luck yet.)

Thanks!

Date: 2011-11-02 06:15 pm (UTC)I don't have a "go-to" electrician, but I've had decent experiences with Bogen (http://bogenelectric.com) and Gibbons (http://www.gibbonselectric.com).
