Just a reminder if anyone here is thinking about participating in Bank Transfer Day: there's a lot of good info about local banks in this community under the banking tag. In particular, here are two recent posts with a lot of information about local banks and credit unions in the greater Davis Square area.

Neither of those threads mentioned US Alliance CU, open to Middlesex and other counties. I switched to it because there's a branch a few blocks away, north of Porter Square, but haven't done anything non-basic with them. I thought their check prices were silly and ordered elsewhere. They seem unexceptional but better located for me than the other community CUs. They're on SUM so I use the Harvard CU ATM to my south.
