On May 7, 2005, the Ominous Collective will present the fourth
Kabarett 16-Bit, combining theater, prog-rock and poetry.
The exclusively female Illegitimate Theatre Company returns with another installment of their work-in- progress rock opera.
Specimen 37 who were introduced to the Collective by Boston scene maven Lexi Kahn, are indeed prog- rock. While they might seem odd bedfellows with the more gothic/electronic members of the Collective, this kind of genre-crossing is becoming more frequent with bands like their fellow Berklee grads Fluttr gaining national attention. Naming such seemingly disparate artists as Steve Vai, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, and the Legendary Pink Dots as mentors, Specimen 37 use lighting and video for full effect to "chronicle seven days in the life of a nameless 'specimen'."
Visiting poet Ashley Watson (of Ithaca, New York) will be reading selected works from her new series of poems chronicling the complexity of desire.
Returning will be poet and Collective member Edward J. Carvalho. He is a twice-nominated Pushcart Prize writer (2004-2005) who has been writing poetry for 15 years. Edward’s poetry is often described as having a style that is ‘original, innovative, imaginative and brutal.’
