According to Boston Magazine's food blog, the second location of Tasty Burger (located in the Fenway) will be somewhere in Davis Square...and it'll have a bar.  No info's provided about the location; any guesses as to where it could be located?

Hm, my first thought was maybe where Pulse was, but that seems very small for a place with a full liquor license. Maybe the Caning Shoppe space across the street?

If they do have the license, though, we should be able to look it up, because those have to be connected to a location, right?

Half of the former Caning Shoppe has become the home of Knucklebones, and the other half is also pretty small to hold a restaurant. (Note - this building is in Cambridge, not Somerville)

Maybe part of the former Social Security office (which is huge) or part of the first floor of the Citizens Bank building (also huge)?

There's also a vacant storefront or two up near Dave's Fresh Pasta.

There's a wine bar coming to one of the spots by DFP. Also, I can't find anything in the recent licensing board minutes about either a victuals or liquor license for Tasty Burger (or any mention of it at all), but maybe I'm not going back far enough and/or just missing something.

There's also the new building that's still under construction on Elm next to Rosebud. I think the first floor of that may be commercial space.

I thought that Dave's lost out on their liquor license request at a hearing, with it instead going to a place in East Somerville.

I also vaguely recall the developer pledging not to put a restaurant in that new building.

Right! So why would Tasty Burger get a license when the DFP wine bar couldn't?

No idea, except maybe DFP was applying for a different type of license from what Tasty Burger wants, or else Tasty Burger paid to buy someone else's license.

I don't think it's possible to just buy someone else's license -- the City still has to approve the transfer. (Isn't that why Ten Tables didn't open in Davis?)

I think some kinds of licenses are sellable and others are not. Ten Tables wanted to take over a license that was required to be returned to the city when the business that held it closed.

There's a Thai restaurant moving into Pulse.

First floor space in the Citizen's Bank building at 212 Elm is staying (re-becoming?) office space; Velir Studios, the web design firm that's in the building already, is expanding.

Thanks for the news. That has always been office space, but the owner several years ago got a permit from the city to convert it to retail, which would have meant subdividing it and changing the window at the corner of Elm and Bowers into a door. I guess the owner decided not to do this after all.

Yes, I patronized their Westwood Village location much too often when I lived in Santa Monica.

I love BBC but I hardly ever visit it because it's like getting a heart attack in a box. A delicious, juicy heart attack in a box.

Tasty Burger is GOOOOOOOD. So is BBC, in my opinion. You can't lose either way.

Damn, now I want a burger for breakfast.
