Electronic Waste Recycling at Eastern Bank, Fri & Sat, 2/10-11

Eastern Bank in Davis Square will hold a free electronic waste recycling event this weekend: Friday fron noon to 5 pm, Saturday from 9 am to noon. You can bring these items:

Cell phones
Cameras
GPS units
Laptops
Keyboards
Mice
MP3 players
Inkjet and Toner cartridges

(no desktop computers, monitors, or printers)

All items are sent to Terracycle for recycling. Proceeds benefit Groundwork Somerville and Somerville Climate Action.

I'm confused about the "all proceeds benefit" part. Does it cost money to drop off your recycling? I've been looking at places I have to pay to drop off laptops etc., ... or maybe that's just if you want the recycling company to secure-wipe the drives? I've never seen any place offering money for them.

How does groundworks somerville get proceeds?

I don't know much more, but it looks like Terracycle has a number of collection programs that make a donation to charity per unit of stuff collected.
