people were holding out, pending no formal announcement, but the phones were turned off at the beginning of the week, and Eater and Boston Restaurants are calling that a wrap.

Wow. Namaskar was one of the very few restaurants in Davis I liked.

Terrible. They were my favorite Indian in Boston, and I always wondered why they weren't more crowded.

A pity. I was hoping that they would fix whatever airborne thing I was allergic to so that I could try them again.

Walked by last night and noticed that they'd ripped all the furniture out. Too bad.

How sad. I really liked the place.

nooooo :( They were my go-to place in Davis... very willing to accommodate my multiple-food-allergy self.

A wrap? That's all Davis Square needs...

Well, that's a bummer. :-( I rather liked that place, although they'd seemed kind of "off" on the last couple of visits...food and service not up to the usual high standards I'd become accustomed to there.

I'll miss them.

The market next door is also on its way out. The guy at the counter told me they'd been struggling for several months now and they just can't afford to stay open. No sense of when they're closing (I presume at the end of the month) but he said "Maybe, when the economy is better, we'll be back."

And I'm gonna miss Namaskar, too. Much better in my opinion than Diva, which just feels too pretentious, especially with the lounge next door. At Namaskar you got your food and it was good and usually quiet in there and the blue sphere lights were awesome and the folks who ran it were super nice.

However, Diva Lounge is supposed to close soon and be replaced by a felafel shop.

I am super excited for this, as long as it's not the price of a Chipotle burrito.

I am too -- I never liked the Diva Lounge, but I do love me some falafel.

I'd say this suggests we all try harder to patronize the places we care about in Davis Square, so they stick around. I liked Namakar quite a bit as well, but hadn't thought to go in months.

If you're looking for a decent Indian place to fill the void Masala in Teele Sq is AWESOME and my new "go to" place for curry cravings. While I'm sad to see any local biz close its doors, I wasn't a fan of Namaskar. Every time I gave it a try I'd end up feeling very ill after I ate. Plus it's not like Somerville/Cambridge had a lack of decent options for Indian...

Masala has also taken Namaskar's place on the Welcome Project's YUM Card.
